Marathon Clinic News 6/9/14

JANE

Jane has been running with the Portland Marathon Clinic since 2009, and has been a group leader since 2012. She has completed 8 marathons, and taken over 20 minutes off her first marathon time since running with the Portland Marathon Clinic. Jane credits the PMC with teaching her how to train smart, avoid injuries, and how to enjoying running marathons. She is looking forward to running her first trail ultra marathon this year and running Portland again in October. In her non-running time, Jane works for the City of Portland and enjoys other outside pursuits with her husband and new golden retriever.

TRAINING RUN JUNE 14

The runs this Saturday will be 12, 14 & 16 miles at 8 am from Mountain Hardwear, 722 SW Taylor, Portland. The doors will be open at 7:30 am. For directions to the start see http://www.teamoregon.com/pmc/training/runs/mtnhdwdir.htm. This weeks run will be the first 6- 8 miles of http://www.teamoregon.com/maps/index.php?id=1578. There will be 2 aid stations accessible both out and back, we suggest carrying water for the best hydration.

TRAINING RUN JUNE 21

The run will be 13 , 15 or 16 miles at 8 am starting from at lululemon 1231 NW Couch St, Portland, OR 97209. For driving directions see: http://www.teamoregon.com/pmc/training/runs/lululemondir.htm. Pay parking is available in the garage underneath lululemon. Whole Food validates for 2 hours with a 10 dollar purchase. Free parking is on street few blocks up on the other side of the freeway, the nearby meters are mostly 90 minutes. The run will go down Couch , then south on the West side waterfront, over the Sellwood bridge to the Sellwood area.
We'll use the first 6.5-8 miles of the mapped run http://www.teamoregon.com/maps/index.php?id=1528. You might want to bring your water bottle. There will aid stations at the 3 and 6 mile marks supplied by lululemon Carrying water or sports drink is recommended.

COACHED TRACK WORKOUTS START JUNE 19

PMC Coaching is for all marathoners, both first timers and those of you wanting to improve your time. The $100 marathon clinic package includes the Saturday long run, a midweek coached run or track session , the new edition of "Marathoning Start to Finish", a personalized online training schedule and log and a micro fiber Portland Marathon Training Clinic shirt . The midweek runs will meet at Duniway Park Thursday 6pm starting June 19. Runs will include fartlek, hill runs and track workouts to prepare runners to run or race the marathon. All clinic participants can learn all about marathoning through the new on demand video webcasts. Topics include training plans, nutrition, physiology, psychology, flexibility/strength and speedwork. Those registered for the coaching have access to the coaches at the weekend runs and at the track to answer all your questions. You can register online at http://www.teamoregon.com/pmc

TRAINING TIPS
