DIANE LECHNER

Certified running coach and endurance runner for a decade, Diane Lechner loves to run. She has 30+ marathons and ultras under her belt and looks forward to running many more. "The Portland Marathon is definitely one of the best," Diane said. As a graduate of the Portland Marathon Clinic seminars herself, she set a new PR of 3:12, more than 1 hour improvement over her first. "As a coach and director, I really enjoy helping runners stay healthy, make good choices and meet their goals," says Diane. "With Portland Marathon Clinic's coaching and their training plan, marathon day will feel like a victory lap." CHANGES 2017

Coach Diane Lechner will be the Head Coach and Run Director for 2017. She will be in charge of the runs, the coaching and leading her group She's so exited to step into her new role and will be an enthusiastic leader for all marathoners. Retired coaches Warren & Patti Finke will be there for a few runs when Diane is unable to attend and will help out at some other runs. Coach DeeAnn Dougherty will come to number of the runs and coach at the track workouts to add her physical therapy expertise.

We are pleased with the addition of a new sponsor: Athleta. Both stores: Brewery Blocks and Washington Square Mall will sponsor runs from their locations. Also new is one run from Kelley Point Park off N Marine Drive. The complete schedule is posted on http://www.teamoregon.com/pmc/training/

The 2017 Portland Marathon Training Clinic will include training for both beginners and those wanting to improve performance. Training runs will be Saturday mornings starting April 8 at various locations and Track Training Thursday PMs starting June 22 staffed by our certified coaches. All will be able to access the online seminar webcasts at their leisure. Each runner will receive an online training log and schedule based on their individual level of training and ability. Participants will receive a copy of Marathoning Start to Finish and a technical running shirt. Register for the clinic before the kickoff to receive your training schedule before the April 8 run. KICKOFF TRAINING RUN APRIL 8

The FREE Kickoff Run for the 2016 Portland Training Clinic will be April 8 at 8 am at Mountain Hardwear, 722 SW Taylor, Portland. Mountain Hardwear will offer post run refreshments. Please leave your headphones, dogs and baby joggers at home.

These will be the first of the weekly training runs that take place Saturdays. The first run is a 4, 6 or 8 mile run on the waterfront. There are 12 pace groups led by experienced marathoners for marathon goals from under 3 hours to 5+ hours. The clinic provides some charts to help you pick your proper pace group and the volunteer leaders will help you run the right pace and have fun.
