Marathon Clinic News 06/13/2018


The Thursday night runs start with some strength workouts at Gabriel Park. Fun and adventure runs on the paved paths will utilize some of the cross country route to gain strength. Join us for a fun new experience!

The runs this Saturday will be 12, 14 & 16 miles at 8 am from Mountain Hardwear, 722 SW Taylor, Portland. The doors will be open at 7:30 am. For directions to the start see This week's run will be the first 6- 8 miles of . There will be 2 aid stations accessible both out and back, we strongly suggest carrying your own water for the best hydration. Please no headphones, dogs or baby joggers.


This weekends' training run meets at Club Sport, 18120 SW Lower Boones Ferry Rd, Tigard, OR 97224 at 8 am and will feature 13,15 or 16 miles. Marathon Training Clinic Coaching is for all marathoners, both first-timers and those wanting to improve race time. The $150 marathon clinic package ($125 for returners) includes the Saturday long run, a midweek coached run or track session, the new edition of "Marathoning Start to Finish," a personalized online training schedule and log and a micro fiber Portland Marathon Training Clinic shirt. The runs on June 21 & 28 will start at Gabriel Park. All following weekly runs will be at a Duniway track. Runs will include fartlek, hill runs and track workouts to prepare runners to run or race the marathon. All clinic participants can learn more about marathoning through the on demand video webcasts. Topics include training plans, nutrition, physiology, psychology, flexibility/strength and speedwork. Those registered for the coaching have access to the coaches at the weekend runs and at the track to answer all your questions. You can register online at


The Portlandathon course has two significant hills. To train specifically, you need to be doing some runs on the hills. Next several weekend runs will feature some hills as well. Check out "Killer Hill Approaches" for tips on hill running.
